Applegreen Case Study

Masquerade Ball for 800 Corporate Guests.

Applegreen is a major petrol retailer in Ireland, with further operations in the UK and USA. Applegreen has revolutionised the forecourt market by adopting a distinctive, retail-led approach around the sale of petrol and diesel. In addition to consistently low fuel prices, the company offers great value products alongside high quality food and beverages.

Applegreen takes its Corporate Social Responsibility programme very seriously, underlined by a policy that donates 1c to charity for every euro spent on purchases in store. The company also organises a high profile annual charity ball, with a guest list of major external clients, suppliers and partners. With such a high profile audience to impress, Applegreen was keen to host an event which delivered the WOW! factor for guests. The company decided on a Masquerade Ball, and invited the HiJack team to organise the occasion. Having worked successfully together on previous event management Dublin events, Applegreen knew they could entrust the HiJack team to deliver a memorable night for their clients … and they were not disappointed!

The Masquerade Ball took place in the Ballroom of the Burlington Hotel, with some 800 guests attending. Held in aid of the homeless charity Focus Ireland, MC for the night was Norah Casey, the well known entrepreneur and Dragon’s Den star. The HiJack team was responsible for running every aspect of the event, from sourcing the Masquerade masks to providing the AV facilities, from risk assessment to organising the floor plan, from lighting to props, and from music to stage management. The centrepiece of the Ball was a performance of scenes from “The Greatest Showman” featuring professional actors, dancers and singers.

Applegreen’s CEO Bob Etchingham and COO Joe Barrett both gave keynote addresses at the event. The HiJack team helped with the visual content for the presentations, including the provision of a giant LED wall.

Applegreen was thrilled with the feedback received from their invited audience, particularly with regard to the scenes from “The Greatest Showman.” The company was also delighted with another highly professional and well organised event, which ran smoothly and without any issues.
