Gala Ball for 550 Corporate Guests
One of the most successful Irish owned companies, Applegreen is a familiar sight to drivers across Ireland. Offering a winning combination of low fuel prices, great value products and high quality food and beverages, Applegreen has become the favoured service station of many motorists.
Applegreen has a long and proud tradition of charity work. Alongside donating 1c from every in-shop purchase to the Applegreen Charitable Fund, the company also organises a spectacular Gala Ball every year to raise funds for worthy causes. The latest Gala Ball marked Applegreen’s tenth annual fundraiser, and the chosen beneficiary for this special anniversary was the homeless charity Focus Ireland. Invited guests included Applegreen’s top management and staff, major suppliers, charity workers and supporters.
With so many important guests to impress, and such an important cause to support, Applegreen once again decided to work with HiJack. Based on the success of previous Gala Balls, Applegreen knew they could rely on HiJack to deliver a memorable evening that would run like clockwork and impress all the VIP guests. Working closely with the organising team from Applegreen, HiJack were responsible for:
- Venue dressing, management and liaison
- Audio visual and presentation facilities, including large LED screen
- Catering and fine dining
- Organisation and booking of entertainment.
The Gala Ball took place in UCD’s state of the art building, the O’Reilly Hall. This versatile location features the very best in modern venue facilities, with the added benefit of a beautiful conservatory overlooking the adjoining lake. Applegreen had decided on a Celtic theme for the evening, and attendees were greeted by a “Riverdance” style troupe who entertained their audience with a wonderful display of traditional Irish dancing. As popular as the dancing was, for many the highlight of the evening was the performance by the headline act Spring Break. Irish group Spring Break have developed a reputation as one of the country’s top floor filling, good time party bands, and their concert after the meal and speeches was no exception. To add to their reputation, the week after the Applegreen Gala Ball, Spring Break supported international superstar Cher at her concert in Belfast!
Applegreen organiser Adrian Giffney, Head of Change Management and The Applegreen Charitable Fund, was very pleased with the success of the Gala Ball, saying: “The creativity of the HiJack team never ceases to amaze me. I know we can trust them to organise a successful event for us, but what really impresses me is their ability to come up with something new and something special every time. What can I say? Another truly stunning event!”
